Abstract

A binary coating with the nominal composition (RuO2)x(Ta2O5)y/Ti deposited on a Ti substrate has been prepared by thermal decomposition of RUCl3.XH2O and TaCl5 solutions at 450°C. Surface morphology and microstructure of the coatings were investigated by scanning electrón microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS). The aim of this work is to analyze the effect of the replacement of TiO2 by Ta2O5 in a bin composition with ruthenium oxide, the influence of the addition of Ta2O5 on morphological properties of the surface discussed.
