Abstract

The present paper reports the ultrastructural features of the muscle connections with epithelial cells and with other muscle fibers in the crop and proventriculus of bees. Two types of tendon cells (the connection between epithelium and muscle) were described, as well as muscle-to-muscle attachments. We also describe the presence of focal contacts along with the epidermis and the muscle sheath of the organ, interpreted as mechanisms that prevent sheath detachment.
