Relationships between bacteria and the gut wall of some Neotropical Termites (Isoptera)
Vol 7 No 1 (1998)

Abstract
The digestive tube of some of the neotropical termites has a very diversified bacterial flora. Transmission electron microscopy showed specific relationships between the bacteria and the epithelium of different gut regions. BActeria may be associated with the gut wall through the stuff of pill, or by special fuzzy material which enclosed the cells ina a continuous layer. The epithelium may show cuticular depression (equivalent epicuticular pits) where they usually adhere.
