AFM and XRD Techniques in Zn Corrosión Behaviour Studies
Vol 7 No 2 (1998)

Abstract
The modifications of Zn, Zn-Co, Zn-Fe, and Zn- Ni electrodeposits surface structure and morphology, during their corrosión process in an HCO," containing NaCl solution, were investigated. The atomic forcé microscopy (AFM) technique was applied to study the surface morphology and to estímate roughness parameters, while x-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to observe changes of the sample texture after the corrosión attack. It was assumed that oxide film plays a significant role in this process. The corrosión process of investigated alloys was observed to be more uniform, while local corrosión attack was more pronounced for puré Zn surface.
